A simple story of a not so simple guy who wants to achieve a lot more than he can ...Ok that's crap. Here is a log book of my life and some thoughts. Enjoy~

Another week ahead

I was kind of pissed off by a guy at work the other day. Fine, I prob did something wrong but I was just following instructions. Maybe I should have picked up the call but I didn't know it was my call and moreover I was listening to someone giving instruction. Got me driving mad ...

Weekend's pretty much the same but the week will be busier with 2 tuitions for my cousins. The PC show is coming this week and I may be getting myself a laptop soon. Either that or ask my NUS friends to get me their uni ones. And I managed to do some revison on Maths. Finally, I remember what is the cover-up rule!!!=p

2 photos from a dinner I had with ZY, Daph,, Weilin, SZ and SW:

Oh yeah, Weilin from s37 sent out her birthday invite via post. Quite cute and need to RSVP one. Already told her not to waste money but she still did it. Heh. Haven't been to a birthday party for the last few months, which is helpful in protecting my wallet. But 2 big ones coming in July, so should start planning and saving!

I may know my schedule for the month of June soon! Hopefully there won't be any clashes of events for me. Not much longer before I fly off ...and GSS is here so I better find the time to walk walk and buy stuff!

Having work today!

Going to work soon, so this will be short and sweet. Met Darius, PK and Zhen Hao for dinner at Settlers Cafe. Weilin couldn't join us at the last minute cuz of her junior's wake. It's really a pity as you would have read on the front page of Home today.

Anyway, Darius left early for work too so left the 3 of us. It was a bit not worth it cuz we didn't really play a lot of games but it's ok for us i suppose. Going to work later where I'm going to have on-hands training for extended betting. Better go through my call script beforehand.

Class gathering at City Hall last week.

Was having this conversation with Zun You, my ex-recruit. I just had to blog this cuz I find this so hilarious. Never thought of it this way before. Perhaps now I know why I'm fated to go there anyway.

I have enough sleep!!!

I wasted one day today ...I think you can see that from the quiz that I did. Normally, I wouldn't have bothered but today I did it out of sheer boredom. My favourite thing to do now is to watch tv from 9 to 11 (to 12 on mondays cuz of grey's anatomy).

Talked to Kenneth, my friend from OCS on MSN just now. Been a long time since we last chatted. That poor chap is struggling in Australia where he is studying in the University of Queensland in Brisbane. He went there without knowing anyone and probably suffering as a result of it. Any kind soul who knows Singaporeans studying there can let me know so I can introduce to my friend. Being alone in a foreign land can be unsettling.

Finally contacted my secondary school teacher last night. Will be trying to organise a sec school gathering at her place. It's quite sian when I'm always the class chairman or class rep of EVERY class that I've been in and people always have the expectation that you are the one responsible for organising. Almost couldn't contact her cuz she changed hp number but luckily I always keep my class contact list and had her home phone number.

So fast tomorrow is Wednesday already. Those who are working probably thinking why time passes so slowly but time is passing fast for me=). My mom just told me she found a friend who may need a temp worker. Too bad she didn't ask earlier, or else I would have long been out of this rut that I'm digging myself deeper than ever into. But then again, as some people say, why work when you are going to be gainfully employed for the rest of your life? But then, money is never enough for me ...hehe

Well, taking things as they come. I should aspire to do more things tomorrow. Didn't manage to run cuz had to pass something to Dan's friend. Should I swim tomorrow?

Contacting People

Got back from work at around 3:30am this morning. Had a quick bath and then went to sleep. Slept all the way until 11 this morning. Things went quite ok, the only tricky thing was when I had to respond in Chinese. Actually, it was the nightmare of everyone in the room. The moment someone's call come in and see "Chinese" under language, we'll go like "shit!" and then proceed to pick up the call. I still did pretty ok. But I made a hilarious mistake, the same as what Darius did: I said "Thank you for voting with Singapore Pools when it should be betting. Urghh ...

I have been trying to contact a secondary school teacher the last few days. Finally made some headway. Lucky cuz I always kept the class contact list that I had. Then, I started to think about all the people I've known along the way. I must admit I have been pretty lousy in keeping in contact with people. Especially for those from my pre-JC days. I attribute it to my time in NS, whereby I didn't have a lot of free time and thus did not do much contacting. As for the JC friends, probably cuz of how recent I know them, it was easier to still contact them.

So it is my fault? Well, i think it works both ways. I did not bother to find out about you but it was true the other way round too. It takes 2 hands to clap, so before you push the blame to me, take a step back and see if you have done your part too. Recognising that we get distracted by all the things in our life that we leave no time for each other, well that's important and not pushing the blame to others.

I'll be trying to call up some people whom I've not seen in a while. It will be hard to make the first move but someone need to do it right?

Gonna work tonight

I am surprised to see that I have not had an entry the whole week yet, despite being relatively free. Well, perhaps not. I've been out nearly every night, so I guess that explains for the lack of postings.

Finally got my letter on Monday. Then, Darius and I went for the medical checkup on Tuesday morning. We had lunch with Shen Zhi and Ziyang since we were around the Raffles Place area. Poor Shen Zhi was fasting and I had to try to tempt her with the Subway Cookie while she was sipping her bottle of milk and gobbling down sweets. Then, both of us headed to National Library to pass time while waiting for our training at Spore Pools to start at 5pm. It was quite an experience to finally take calls and place the bets for the customers.

Had dinner with Zhen Hao on Wednesday night at TM. Ate the cheap Bak Chor Mee at Century Square cuz we didn't want to spend too much. I bumped into a few ex-recruits who had Liberty, aka nights out. Thursday night was class dinner with S37 and those who came down were Han Yu, Ying Jun, Ze Han, Yong Hui, Chen Bin, Kee Sian and Ziyang. We ate at Cartel and then to Gelare for waffles, which only Kee Sian and myself ate. It was fun to meet up with them and fortunately, we did not cancel it as YH suggested to.

Kee Sian, Ziyang, Yong Hui and myself went back to VJ the next morning. Saw teachers like Mr Chan, Mr Ho, Mrs Chuah and Mr Yeo. Apparently, they had half-day cuz of some schools finals in the afternoon. Saw some students arguing over why they cannot be let out of school compounds earlier than the stipulated timing with the VP. Man, the attitude of students seems to be very bad these days. I mean, come on lar, waiting for another 20 minutes won't kill you right? And the tone and manner in which they spoke to their VP was downright shameful. If I were the VP, I would have blasted them down. Saw a girl later at the bus stop bitching to someone on the phone. That tells you so much about their maturity.

Anyway, here's the photo from the outing with Mr Ho on Saturday:
Zhen Hao(on the phone), Ziyang, Mr Ho, Daniel and me!

Received a call from Singapore Pools yesterday as I went down to my Grandma's place, asking me to work tonight. Thought about it for 2 seconds and said ok rather uconvincingly. But thought might as well do it since I got no plans and that will mean more money ...So I will be going to have my dinner soon and then go for my shift from 9pm to 3am. Better go do some homework before I go down.

One last thing: I hate it when people play stupid jokes on me and especially if it is taking advantage of the concern I have of people. Once you violate it, sorry, it's very hard to gain it back. You may think I cant take some joke or being too serious but I think once certain lines or crossed, do not expect me to be very forgiving. I'm not that kind of person and I will remember.

Ok, time for dinner and then off to work!

Long weekend

Brought my mom and sis to Sakura for dinner. And I paid for it. *applause* And my mom and I bumped into ZH and his girlfriend. Gave him a shock by whacking him from behind ...hee

Had dinner with Mr Ho last night with Ziyang, Daniel and Zhen Hao, basically the overseas scholars less Darius. Joined ZY and dan at Cineleisure when my uncle guided me to drive from Bishan to City Hall. Was damn stressed by the heavy traffic. I have to admit, I'm still far from being a steady driver, lacking in the natural ability that some has. But I'll try ...

Anyway, we proceeded to the Esplanade where we walked around the library and I realised I have never took a close look at what they have to offer before. Ate our dinner at glutton's bay and we were late cuz Mr Ho had difficulty finding parking space. We basically talked and ate and have some suaning here and there. Bought some gourmet cakes from a Cafe there before Mr Ho drove us back except for Daniel. Yes, Mr Ho drives now for those who don't know.

Now talking to many ppl on msn. Hoping to get my MOE package tomorrow so I can start on my form-fillings. And can't wait to watch Survivor tomorrow too~ Hope to do some running tomorrow after eating so much over the weekend.

Chance Encounter with a friend

For those who knew, I've been presented with a dilemma for the last few days. I had 2 choices in front of me and was forced to make a decision that will affect my future. And I think I have chosen the path which I hope is the right one, though I will never know until many years down the road. Yes, SMU did offer me the Lee Kong Chian Scholarship in case some of you were wondering. To be honest, it was quite easy to get cuz: 1) My chances were augmented by the fact that I'm a guy. There were much fewer guys and they cannot have the ratio leaning too heavily towards the girls. 2) The other guys in contention weren't that fantastic either. Saw some from my school and they were not exactly the top-notch students.

Finally, got a job ...as a BOOKIE! And a legal one somemore ...Haha, yeah I'm now officially employed under Singapore Pools as a Customer Service Representative at the Telebetting Department. So, basically, I pick up phone calls for those who want to place bets for the World Cup. It will be good pocket money for the months to come.

Had dinner with Darius at PS after the signing of the appointment letter, which took like forever to finish. Then, as we were about to go home, guess what? We bumped into my JC classmate, Kee Sian. It was such a coincidence. Since he had not taken his dinner, I accompanied him and Darius went home. Had a great chat with him over our JC days and about our friends. I'll never forget him as the guy who looked at me with suspicion when I told him I was from 02S37 as if I were out to con him. It is very funny to think back of this but there were no hard feelings whatsoever. He's a great guy though I think people used to think of him as a joker in class, though he's actually quite nice and solemn.

Some guys coming to my house on Sunday, so I spent my morning cleaning up the house first. Going to grandma's house tonight and it will probably be like this every week. Apparently, MOE finally sent the package to us but no one was at home to receive the mail, so I have to get them to deliver to my house again. I got lots of form-filing to do now. Plus medical checkup and the whatnots.

This is the photo we took at Weilin's place on Sunday. Sorry ZH and Darius cuz you guys left early:
Marcus and me with the 3 girls

ORD Photos

Finally, I have developed the photos that I took about a month ago.

This is a montage of the photos with my colleagues on my lst day in camp(less DJ and Barry who weren't there):

Here's the photos from the ORD dinner I had with my BMT platoon mates:

Foxtrot Company Platoon 2 ORD Loh! An amazing half of the platoon turned up for the dinner! Celebration after 2 years 4 months!
Me, Qian Hao and Fang Long- Anderson Sec friends. QH is a smart slacker while FL is a naval officer.
Platoon 2 Section 4. Ok, so there were only 5 of us and Daryl came after the dinner but I there say we were the BEST section. Less those irritating buggers of course =p
Me and Melvin-Officers and from VJ. One of those ppl whom I knew in school but never spoke to until we left school and our paths crossed thereafter.

Busy times are beckoning!

Daniel, thanks a lot for your consolation. It helps when your friends are going through the same thing as ya, never mind that they are better than you, like Dan and ZH. To be honest, I wasn't planning on going Warwick anyway but it sure doesn't feel good that they don't want you compared to you rejecting them. Yes, I want to reject them and not the other way round!

Forgot to add that I went for my division outing last Friday. My understudy Jun Huang called me up like 15 mins before the event to inform me. WOW ...Luckily, I was going to the Spore Pools interview already and could meet them thereafter. But I knew that they were going to have the outing that day except that I didn't know whether it was confirmed. Well, I could have called and asked but I didn't. Anyway, they went to Brewerkz at Clark Quay and I basically went there to drink water since I don't drink alcohol. Most people have left by the time I reached there but still saw some old colleagues and friends. The officers, as usual, were the last ones to leave. Was kinda disappointed that the 2 new officers didn't stay cuz it seems like they still had not learnt the art of socialising around. Listened to some of their discussions and it felt so surreal that I am no longer part of it. Actually, it's been a month since ORD, not bad huh?

I'm quite proud to add that I have started exercising. Ran once last week and once yesterday again. Hopefully, I can squeeze in a swim before I go out later.

Meeting some of my classmates later, then tomorrow I'll have my Spore Pools trainng. Busy times beckoning!

Sunday afternoon of boardgames

Went to Weilin's house today. Was supposed to meet at Seng Kang Mrt station at 1 but I was super duper late and arrived only at around 130. Luckily, I took a bus down form Tampines on ZH's advice and not foolishly took the train all the way. That would have cost me a bomb! Then, ZH picked us up there after he finished his tuition.

Marcus was there already when we arrived. Weilin and her parents made the kong ba pau for us and we didnt leave much meat for PK cuz we knew she could sustain on vegetables! But PK also liked the meat right? That's what she told me on the way home. Then, we played some board games for the rest of the afternoon. It was just like the time I went to Minds Cafe and was amazed at the array of interesting boardgaems available in the market. Should go down to one of them again one of these days. Anyone interested?

An ex-recruit messaged me to tell me he got gold for IPPT. Well done JH!

If you do not know by now, I have applied for a job at Singapore Pools. No, not to be a bookie or something like that but rather to work at the call centre where I'll help customers place bets via a telephone hotline. Well, technically i have yet to get the job cuz I have to go for training and pass the test. The only problem is that I have to work really odd hours(7pm to 4am) and on weekends. Well, let's just take things as they come.

Think I will be making my decision soon, hopefully by next week cuz will need to submit my accommodation form to UCL by end of the month if I'm going there. Decisions, decisions, decisions ...

I can't believe it!!!

Warwick rejected me!!! This is a huge blow to my ego. Though I won't be going there even if they accepted me, I really didn't think that I am not good enough to get a place there. This is horrible!!!

My energy's pretty much sapped today. Tutored 3 of my cousins simultaneously, with the first starting at 11 and ending finally at 5 plus. Phew~ Then, proveeded to have family dinner to celebrate Mothers' Day at this restaurant at Turf City: Shui Shang Ren Jia (Pantai Fishing Village I think). The seafood there is great and I recommend it highly.

Ok, tomorrow going down to Weilin's place at Punggol with the rest of the CT mates. Turned down a few appointments, including an ex-recruit who wanted to come my house, for this. Hope it turns out well. I'm gonna wallow in self-pity and cry myself to sleep. BOOHOOHOO ....

Are things starting to look up for me???

Ok, I see a flurry of messages on my tagboard ...yet again. It's so easy to miss out on what's going on if one doesn't check so very often.

Spent my Sunday and Monday tutoring my cousins in Science cuz my aunt asked me for help. So that's why no one saw me online those 2 days cuz I went to stay over at my grandma's place. Met up with the CT people less PK at Bugis for dinner and Darius joined us afterwards for supper. It was a pretty last-minute kind of thing and I had to ask around and 5 hours before we met I just anyhow state a meeting place. So busy, have to organise for CT, then for my class and I foresee a lot more organising I'll have to do. So, please do help me out my friends. Anyway, we had a real sucky dinner at this cafe at Bugis Village. Oh yeah, I think Buis Village is quite popular with my ex-recruits cuz I saw 3 of them within the short span of time I was there. On to the dinner, the cafe was unable to cope such that they had to close shop early. And I learnt that the cheem-sounding shrimp ravioli pasta is merely wanton + sphagetti + sauce. And it's possible to prepare fried chicken wings by cutting the wings into 2.

I have something to confess: I have been attending scholarship interviews, particularly the SMU one. Ok, yeah people ask me, you already have a scholarship, why still bother? Well, I'm now exploring my options to see what other choices I have. I may just do a sudden U-turn and stay in Spore who know? Anyway, today's session was a gruelling 6-hour one. The whole thing was very much like what you see on The Apprentice. We were split into groups and we had a challenge whereby we were given the task of promotin a designated country in a travel fair and had to come up with a food stall and do a fashion parade. So, people were running all over to buy stuff but I had the enviable task of staying put and coming up with the idea for the sales presentation whereby I came up with the storyline for the presentation and attempted to come up with the jingle. *wry smile* My group did on the country France and I think we did pretty good overall=) The food setup was good and our catwalk was hilarious with one guy dressed as a highclass female with her poodle, which was one of the girls.

I'm going for a job interview near my place tomorrow morning(Wish me luck). Hope I can find a job which is pays well and can give me the flexibility I want. Then, it's off to meet Zhen Qiang at Parkway cuz he's trying to psycho me to go UCL with him and then we will go back VJ. Seriously, this week is starting to look real packed for me. Which may be a good thing ...

By the way, I just read a testimonial by an ex-recruit yesterday on Friendster. Quite touched and I laughed at how he was uncomfortable calling me by my name ...=p
